My dream began when I was five years old. I envisioned a future where no one would have to die from heart failure—a world where mechanical hearts could seamlessly sustain life. This vision guided me to become a cardiac surgeon, transforming my childhood dream into a profound mission.
Working closely with patients, I witnessed both the miracle of modern medical technology and its limitations. In 2021, joining the artificial heart development team at Cleveland Clinic marked a pivotal moment in transforming this understanding into tangible innovation.
Our mission extends far beyond developing another artificial heart. Current artificial hearts still require external power lines. This challenge represents an opportunity to pioneer a new frontier in internal medical devices.
If we succeed in generating enough internal power to drive an artificial heart, we won't just solve a medical challenge—we'll unlock a new form of bioenergy for humanity, catalyzing innovations as revolutionary as the transistor.
Our journey begins with delivering the ideal artificial heart to patients who suffer daily, leading to a new era in in-body electronics.
