"I have a dream."

In June, 2021, I posted these words on Facebook as I embarked on a journey to the United States.

"Someday, humanity will live with mechanical hearts, and no one will die from heart disease."

This dream has lived within me since I was five years old. From the Toyobo VAD at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center of Japan, to the Lion Heart at Penn State, and the Continuous-Flow Total Artificial Heart at Cleveland Clinic—I literally grew up witnessing these breakthrough artificial hearts. My passion for artificial organs only deepened when my father, awaiting a liver transplant, faced the uncertainty of organ availability.

Three years ago, I stepped onto the stage of artificial heart development, a stage I had admired since my childhood.

And now, after 35 long years, it is finally our turn.

For everyone in need of a new heart. For the future of humanity, which will one day reach the stars. Here in the United States, we begin a new chapter of innovation and challenge.
